Paris Day 1
At Amsterdam Centraal waiting for our train to Paris Nord
Finally here! The girlfriend looks like an eskimo woman hehe :P
We arrived in Paris at about 5pm in the afternoon and proceeded to take the Metro to our hotel which was situated in the lively 6th arrondissement left bank neighbourhood of Saint Germain des Pres. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in the area as well as shops of all kinds...
We also arrived on the 14 of July, which is a National holiday in France as they are celebrating Bastille Day (the booking date was purely coincidental). So Paris was unusually lively with an assortment of tourists as well as the locals indulging in various activities.
As it was also tradition that thered be fireworks at the Eiffel Tower at 10.30pm -11pm, we decided to venture out on to the right bank after dinner to catch the fireworks. There would be much too many people at Eiffel Tower by this time so we figured we'd play it safe and watch from a distance. There was not much of a crowd at 9.45pm so we picked a spot nearby Pont Neuf and waited for the show to start.
Of course the waiting was considered a bit much for some people.
Thats the Eiffel Tower in the distance and it was around 10.20 pm when this shot was taken.
Almost sundown! Everyones feet is aching by this point as we've been waiting for almost 90 minutes! But the lovely view of the sunset by the Seine made it all worthwhile.
