Dutch pancake with Caramel and Almonds!
Day 1
We arrived in Amsterdam to a slight chill. We got to our hotel before noon and went in search for some lunch. We ended up at a Dutch pancake house that served more than 20 types of pancakes or pannenkoek. Dutch pancakes are quite large, though they are thinner and slightly more crunchier than your average crepe. It is usually served with powdered sugar and stroop (brown syrup, akin to golden syrup but with a stronger taste and consistency).
We then hopped on the tram and went sight seeing. Bicycles are a way of life in Amsterdam. There is probably more bicycles then there are humans and cars combined!
We visited Anne Franks Huis but the que was stretched across 3 blocks and didnt seem to advance. After 30 minutes, we gave up and walked around the city before hopping on the tram again to head towards Museumsplein.

Febo! Dutch fast food in a convenient type of vending machine that also keeps the food warm!
This must be one of the few places that still has the full KFC name!
Wise Dutch therapy?
At Dam square, where there are surprisingly more pigeons than Trafalgar Square!!!
Royal Palace of Amsterdam in Dam Square

Dinner with Oma in an Indian restaurant in Amstelveen.
Day 2
It turned out to be very very wet and extremely cold on our second day in Amsterdam. I spent the day with my Oma.
Check out a panorama of my Oma's apartment here.
Lez and her family initially planned to visit the lovely Dutch countryside to indulge in cheese making, visit the clog factories and to see the windmills. However because it was windy and wet and freezing, they hung around Amsterdam and indulged in other ways to amuse themselves.

Ahhh Manneken Pis... so called the best chips in Holland! Definitely a satisfying treat on a cold, wet Dutch summer, though how the "Little Man Pee" has anything to do with chips is beyond me.
